we are family!

If you didn’t know, you soon will. I guess if you stopped reading this blog then you might not ever know. So don’t stop reading. You know you want to know what I’m about to talk about. However, perhaps you already know!? If you think you know you should probably stop reading. Nothing worse than hearing about stuff you already know about. Know what I’m saying?
I have five older brothers. They are all super successful and they all look like a slightly uglier version of perfection. (Perfection of course being defined in the urban dictionary as: “Paul Filek.”) They all, with the exception of one, live far away from the humble upbringings in Kamloops, Bc. In fact two of them live in different countries! (Three if you count Toronto as its own universe) On top of the distance spread between us there are now the added pressures and responsibilities of new family members. Sister-in-laws, nephews and nieces! All of whom I absolutely adore and all of whom make my family that much more special and that much greater! The bigger the family, the more love to share. However, the bigger the family the harder it is to get everyone together to share that love.
I can not remember the last time I was in a room, let alone the same city, as all of my brothers. That’s how long it has been. I believe the last time we were all together we went to a RED ROBBINS restaurant somewhere in Vancouver. And I think the restaurant will forever remember us as well because I believe our large table of French fry eating monsters polished off all the ketchup in the building! Truthfully it is very sad we don’t get to see much of each other but I guess it makes the times together that much more special. Today almost marked one of those days! Unfortunately my oldest brother was not able to make the trip in from England. Alas, we will try again next year!
Today marks an exciting and special day for me as well. As most of you know I have been playing music full time the past two years and four months. Prior to that I didn’t really play much music so most of my family hasn’t really had a chance to see much of what I do. Again due to work and family commitments and other things my whole family wont get to watch me play, but a big chunk of them will. I’ve set up a small little unplugged acoustic show at the COMMODORE in kamloops. It only fits about 100 people but id love for anyone and everyone to come on down and help my family experience an amazing fun night out in Kamloops at a Paul Filek concert! I am really excited to have them come and watch and hopefully they are fans too and actually sing along to some of my jams! And of course, you the fans... the people reading this... I love you like family as well! So please come stop by tomorrow and we’ll have a family reunion together!!
